These photographs were taken in London in 1972. I was photographing Burroughs and Gysin for Rolling Stone Magazine. For one glorious week writer Bob Palmer and I hung out with Burroughs and Gysin, and after the interviews and photographs were done Burroughs offered to write text for my first book, SIDETRIPPING (published in 1975; to be re-issued by San Francisco's Last Gasp in the fall of 2001).
